Getting Ready For Baby Bath Time
You might think that children are not really difficult until they hit their teens. But when you have your first child and really see how helpless babies are, you start understanding what a responsibility you have. Babies depend on you for absolutely everything.
This responsibility can be overwhelming for a new parent. Of course, you can ask friends and family members for advice. And you can find any number of books to help you. But it is never quite the same as your own experience. In the middle of the night, there is often no one to turn to.
A lot of times, people are afraid they will hurt newborns when they are holding them. New fathers are especially fearful of this. Oftentimes, though, if the baby does end up being hurt, it is from not having a firm enough hold on them.
Infant safety cannot be taken lightly and bath time is an especially important time to pay attention. Babies get baths daily and sometimes more than once. On occasions when the diaper is really messy, it is easier to just bathe the baby than to use a lot of wipes. You need to be sure you have what you need to bathe your baby in comfort and safety.
The main thing you will need to is look around at baby bath tubs. An adult sized bath tub is too big to be comfortable for either of you. A sink can work in a pinch but it is not as comfortable for the infant. It is better to invest in a tub made for babies that will be of some kind of plastic and, therefore, far nicer for baby to be in.
A particularly interesting baby tub on the market is one called Spa Baby. This tub is especially designed so that the baby will feel more secure. It accomplishes this by being sized so the baby can sit up which allows him to feel safer rather than lying down. He can also be better covered by the water which both keeps him warmer and simulates the environment he was in before birth.
Of course, you still need to be very careful when bathing your baby. You never want to leave a baby or small child in any type of bath unattended. But if you just prepare properly, bath time can be fun and without stress for all concerned.
