Education meets playtime in action packed ride on toy fun

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Playtime for children has come a long way in the years since we were young. As a general rule, if it had wheels it was more than likely that we had built it ourself. The luckiest of children had their own ride on toy, usually a tiny box with wheels shaped to look vaguely like the fashionable cars of the day. There really wasn’t much more to them than that.

If you wanted intricacy and detail you would have to sacrifice the “ride-on” functionality and opt instead for a model car. There were hundreds to choose, from fully featured racing machines, down to tiny replicas of your favourite road vehicles. Hours spent gluing together well crafted plastic engine parts gave you an excellent insight into how these cars functioned. Education met playtime, in some sort of awkward glue filled existence.

The same could not be said of the ride-on-toys that excited children to their very core. They were just boxes with wheels on, but that most definitely isn’t the case any more. The level of detail in the ride on toy has increased massively. How about an excavator ride on toy? Your child could literally be creating a moat for your home, you get bonus additional security, and your child gets playtime satisfaction.

Of course if digging isn’t your kids thing there are all sorts of additional options to choose from, how about a motocross bike? And in a market almost entirely geared (if you’ll excuse the pun) towards boys, there are now plenty of options to choose from designed with the discerning young lady, from pink princess tricycles to pink princess pedal cars. Pink is the signifier of the girl don’t you know.

The fun can still be had in keeping and maintaining these miniature masterpieces, but your child will have the additional bonus of getting to roll at break neck speeds down the nearest hill. Danger always was a blast…
